Nasal Dorsum
The bony and cartilaginous upper surface of the nose that defines the nasal profile when viewed from the side.
The dorsum consists of the nasal bones and upper lateral cartilages. Most aesthetic complaints relate to a dorsal hump, saddle deformity or asymmetry.
Dorsal hump reduction is one of the most common steps in rhinoplasty. If bone and cartilage are not reduced proportionately, an open roof deformity may result; osteotomy prevents this complication.
