Lymph Node
Immune filter stations of the lymphatic system; cervical enlargement may indicate infection, reactive change or malignant spread.
Cervical lymph nodes are divided into 6 levels (Levels I–VI). Hard, painless, enlarging nodes persisting for more than 4 weeks should be evaluated for malignancy.
Imaging with ultrasound and CT/PET-CT when needed, followed by tissue diagnosis via FNAB or excisional biopsy, is the standard approach. Endoscopic evaluation (panendoscopy) is performed if the primary tumour site is unknown.
