Rhinosinusitis
Simultaneous inflammation of the nose and paranasal sinuses; modern medicine prefers this term over "sinusitis" alone.
Rhinosinusitis is classified by duration (acute, subacute, chronic) and underlying pathology. EPOS (European Position Paper on Rhinosinusitis) guidelines standardise diagnosis and management.
Chronic rhinosinusitis is divided into two phenotypes based on the presence or absence of nasal polyps. Biologics (dupilumab, mepolizumab) offer additional treatment options in the polypoid form.
