Nasal Polyp
Soft, painless growths developing from the nasal or sinus mucosa that can cause nasal obstruction and loss of smell.
Nasal polyposis is associated with chronic sinusitis, allergy and Samter's triad (aspirin intolerance, asthma, polyposis). Loss of smell (anosmia/hyposmia) is a frequent symptom.
Topical corticosteroid sprays can shrink polyps, but recurrence is common. FESS allows polypectomy and drainage of affected sinuses. Newer biologics (dupilumab) are effective at reducing recurrence.
